Methodology: Return rates use the Financial Markets Authority's (FMA) official KiwiSaver projection assumptions, Conservative 2.5%, Balanced 3.5%, Growth 4.5%, Aggressive 5.5% per year, net of fees and tax at a 28% PIR. Defensive is modelled at 1.5%. Employer contributions subject to Employer Superannuation Contribution Tax (ESCT) at an estimated 30% for illustrative purposes (actual rate depends on salary). Government contribution of $260.72/year maximum (25c per $1 contributed) per Budget 2025 settings, not available above $180,000 income or after age 65. Salary growth modelled at 3.5% per year per FMA standards. Results shown in future (nominal) dollars and are not adjusted for inflation. Default contribution rate of 3.5% reflects the rate effective from 1 April 2026. First home withdrawals, savings suspensions, member tax credits eligibility variations, and PIR changes are not modelled.
